At Traviesas y Prefabricados de Aragón (Typsa), we produce prefabricated concrete products, with special emphasis on the railway sector.
Typsa started its activity in 1962 and from 1980 onwards specialised in the production of monoblock type precast concrete rail sleepers. Since then, and without stopping, it has been increasing its range of products, satisfying the requirements and expectations of the different national railway operators.
The manufacturing plant, located in the town of Luceni, in the province of Zaragoza, on an 8-hectare plot, has two large industrial buildings and a tower-type plant for the manufacturing of concrete for its own use. The sleeper manufacturing process, with a very high degree of automation, is of the carousel type, which guarantees complete product quality and consistency.
We produce a specialised and high quality product.
We have the experience, capacity and means necessary for the design, production and transport of all types of precast (monoblock) and reinforced (bi-block) concrete sleepers for the railway sector:
- Iberian gauge monoblock sleepers for conventional lines.
- UIC gauge monoblock sleepers for high speed.
- Iberian and UIC polyvalent gauge monoblock sleepers.
- Iberian and UIC mixed gauge monoblock sleepers.
- Metric gauge monoblock sleepers for narrow railways.
- Bi-block sleepers for different gauges in slab track sections.
The approvals and validations of our customers vouch for the quality of our products.
Our solvency, proven over more than 60 years, allows us to produce other prefabricated products, not only for railways but also for prefabricated products for renewable energies (wind turbine towers), civil works (tunnel segments, drainage frames) and building products (panels for prefabricated housing), among others.

Added Value
We provide solvency, reliability and specialisation in the manufacturing of high quality railway sleepers. All this allows us to keep our products validated and approved by the main Spanish railway operators.
We have a stockpiling capacity of up to 500,000 sleepers, which can be shipped by rail or road to our customers.
We also belong to and actively collaborate with the sector’s associations in Spain AFTRAV (National Association of Railway Sleeper Manufacturers), ANDECE (National Association of the Prefabricated Concrete Industry) and CETREN (Railway Action Association), providing solutions to the challenges of the railway sector in our country.

We have modern technical resources at our disposal, adapted to the highest demands of our customers:
– Automatic plant for the production of concrete, silage raw materials and automatic control of moisture and weight correction.
– Automatic equipment for filling casts by weight.
– Watertight curing chambers.
– Laser equipment for data marking to ensure traceability.
– Robotic arm for dimensional control of sleepers.
– In-house laboratory for quality control of raw materials, components and sleepers.
– Siding rail with connection from Luceni to the main seaports of the peninsula.
